As a health food store, we sell a variety of vitamins and supplements, but our largest supplier is NOW Foods, which stands for Nutrition for Optimal Wellness.
Prior to our opening, I searched high and low for a brand of supplements that were a great quality, affordable, and offered a wide selection. After researching close to a dozen brands, I chose NOW as our primary line.
They are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certified. A GMP certified manufacturer is one that has exceeded a specific set of standards laid out by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). GMP certification ensures that supplements and vitamins are manufactured safely, with quality and with efficacy. To be GMP certified means that manufacturers have proved to government inspectors that they have the facilities not only to manufacturer nutraceuticals safely, but also to package, label and store them safely as well. Without this, nutraceutical companies cannot claim to be a GMP certified.
